Class Schedule
Good finishing requires patience and attention to detail. However, commercial knitting patterns are sadly lacking in detailed instructions for finishing, and beautifully knit pieces can end up as a ratty looking sweater if the finishing work isn't done properly. So, what’s a knitter to do?
There are three golden rules when it comes to finishing - they are simple enough to understand but can sometimes be difficult to execute. We will go over them in some detail in class so participants can return home and put them into practice immediately. The other good news is that finishing techniques can be learned. In addition to the three golden rules, we will discuss the many other elements of good finishing, work on techniques crucial to good finishing, and learn some tricks along the way. This workshop just may change how you feel about finishing!
You will have an opportunity to examine many sweaters from my collection and look at finishing details in real garments which will help you understand how the techniques apply to the knitted piece.
Intermediate knitting skills are required and it is very helpful if you have completed one or two garments already. And beware; there’s a detailed homework assignment to be completed before class.
